Or should I say, even people like ME.
I’ve sinned in almost every way imaginable. At a young age, I was experimenting with alcohol, drugs, and sex. I was arrested, in the court system, and running with a bad crowd during my high school years. I didn’t know Jesus, nor did I know about Jesus, although I always believed there was a God. In my early twenties, I was a binge-drinker. I would “black out” from drinking most weekends and indulged in sexual immorality, as the Bible calls it. I even have tattoos from head to toe. Egads! So does this mean I won’t be allowed in the Kingdom of Heaven when my time on earth comes to an end?
Absolutely not! After reading the Bible, I am confident in knowing that Jesus came to earth and died for people like me. Mark 2:16-17 states, “When the scribes of the Pharisees saw that He was eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they said to His disciples, “Why is He eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners? 17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” He didn’t come to save the good ones, folks. Regardless of whether or not we want to admit it, we are all sinners. Some sin more than others. But the fact is, we all have a chance to spend eternity with our Creator. And that’s what He truly wants. The Bible says so.
All you have to accept is His free gift of salvation. God is offering it FREE! to us so that none of us may boast by doing good works alone. (Ephesians 2:9) It’s not a contest to see who can win the most brownie points to get to heaven. It’s whether or not we want a relationship with God forever. And the way to have one is through his Son, Jesus Christ. Sounds good to me. The other choice we have is spending eternity in Hell and honestly I can’t say that sounds appealing.
