As Christians, I believe we ALL feel compelled to stop sinning. We ultimately should want to do what is right and pleases God. And also as Christians, we sometimes feel compelled to stop doing certain things that we used to, like drinking, swearing, watching porn, or watching inappropriate television. Personally, I felt compelled a while back to cancel cable T.V. I didn’t feel it necessary to have the adult shows on with two babies at home, and between the kids and the trashy reality shows I was addicted to, I wasn’t getting much sleep either!
Two years later I don’t miss it at all. If I want to rent a movie I can do so on Netflix, and I have been making better choices with what I am allowing myself and family to be exposed to. Just because we are watching violence or the Real Housewives on television doesn’t necessarily make us violent or superficial, however I believe it does desensitize us which results in becoming apathetic. I don’t believe this is what God wants for us. I believe he is love, and we should be immersing ourselves in positive, godly things that He would approve of. Is it time to bring back the ol’ “WWJD” of the 90’s? I vote YES!
