Embrace diversity–be the salt and the light!

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!

Philippians 2:5-8 NIV (biblegateway.com)

It is good to be reminded that we are not “better” than our friends, our neighbors, the homeless man that wanders the streets downtown. We are all human beings. In this day and age society has a tendency to force us into feeling “lower” or “higher” than others based on our differences. Differences such as race, economical status, income, education. These differences should unite us, allowing us to celebrate our diversity. Instead, it separates us and causes rifts. This shouldn’t be so. Let’s humble ourselves this week and see who we can help that may be in need–whether it be monetary or emotional or just being there for a person in a supportive role.
